UW-Whitewater is a decent school, especially for the in-state price. There are a lot of self absorbed partiers, but by junior year, most students have become more intellectual and care more about school and their future. I'm an elementary education major with a psychology minor. I've found all of my psych professors to be good or great, but unfortunately about half of my elementary education professors should not be teaching there. You know there's a problem when a professor says to the class "Your grade goes down when my frustration level goes up." I found my education classes to not be very applicable to the real world either. It's in a small town, but the school does a good job of providing activities to do, such as movies on the weekends for only $1 and comedians. A lot of people in the dorms go home every weekend. Most of the apartments close to campus are really crappy (almost black water comes out of the faucet, mold in the bathroom, etc).

Advice: Join a learning community freshman year if you want to make some close friends right away (you live in the same dorm and take a lot of classes together). Also check professorperformance.com and ratemyprofessors.com before enrolling in classes to see what other students thought about the professors.Bottom line: Depending on the program, some of the academics are subpar and consist mainly of busy work. The lack of good apartments is also annoying. These are my 2 biggest problems with the school/town, but otherwise it's a good school to go to!

UWW is a so-so college. Certain programs are good, while others are disappointing.
I am a graphic design major, and the program is bad. The teachers tell you how to do everything. It seems like your way is always wrong, and their way is right.

I also think that many of the faculty/staff are not interested in the needs of students. They cannot communicate effectively, and if something is working how it should, you are told to either deal with it, or leave.

I was the mascot for a few months, then my boss fired me because I was unwilling to put up with wearing a broken costume.UW- Whitewater is an okay school for some students, but for others, it just doesn't cut it.

Super Brilliant
If you want an excellent accounting education, this is the place to go, esp. if you are from SE Wisc. The school consistantly ranks highest nationwide for CPA exam passage and well deserves its reputation for this. An excellent education. HOWEVER, when I attended, the campus cleared out every weekend and nearly became a ghost town. If this is still the same & you're not from SE Wisc, you better think twice or pray hard before you go there. These were some of the darkest days of my life. For this reason alone, I would not want my daughter going there. It was just too hard. Better to try Madison.
