I completed several of MSU's distance learning programs and independent study online programs. I do not live in WV and therefore cannot comment on any type of direct personal interaction with the staff or facility. I will say that some of the courses I have taken at MSU were extremely challenging and some of them were not that challenging. I have personal experience with several highly regarded colleges in my city and the programs at MSU are far more applicable to working adults. Honestly, some of the classes at the local colleges were much easier than some of MSU’s courses. That being said, I live in a very large city and I am employed with a very large agency that readily recognizes MSU’s educational programs with high regard. It is to be noted that it is commendable when any program is highly regarded within my agency.
I am aware of several regionally accredited universities within my city and surrounding jurisdiction that I would not let them pay me to attend. If you walk into my agency with a degree from these particular universities be prepared to catch some dissension.
Overall, my experience at MSU has been very positive and I highly recommend MSU’s online programs for working adults. The programs are very practical and solid.

I chose this school to get away from city life, and boy oh boy, it worked a little too well. If you like your department stores and major chains you do not want to go here.

Students are friendly for the most part, but most who are locals tend to be narrow-minded. Faculty can be hard to reach, and the online account access and email are always getting bugs and shutting down.

There are a LOT of foreign students here, so you really get the chance to learn about other cultures. However, there is a bad case of cheating going around ATM - many teachers don't do anything to prevent it.

Mountain State is an excellent value for working adults who want to obtain their degree online. Their (MSU) is half that of UoP and others. I like the challenging classes you feel like youre earning a degree , not buying one!

The two best professors I had there were just fired for standing up to the administration on behalf of their students. That pretty much sums up the place up. It might turn into a good school if the egomaniac of a president ever leaves (and takes the statue he erected of himself with him). There are some excellent people on the faculty but don't get attached to them, they either get fed up and leave or get fired.
