ONCORD College was founded in 1872, soon after West Virginia split away from Virginia during the Civil War and is situated on a 123-acre park-like campus in southern West Virginia—just off I-77.  The College offers BS, BA, BSW, and AA degrees, 84 majors, minors and programs and has a center in Beckley, WV, to meet the needs of Raleigh County.  Moreover, pre-professional programs are offered in law and medicine with successful graduates gaining admission to Harvard, Virginia, Stanford and John Hopkins.

The College’s library has 200,000 holdings, automated catalog, access to Infotrac, the Internet and many other remote databases.

Students come to Concord from 28 states and 32 nations. More than 85% of the student population receives some sort of financial aid (scholarships and need-based federal financial aid); $9.7 million was awarded in the 98/99 school year and $12.2 million in 99/00, an increase of 26%.
