Positive Negative Neutral Advice
My biggest complaint about Boston University was thatMechanical Engineering
My biggest complaint about Boston University was that it's not always very good about getting information to the students about what's available out there. I did notice towards the end of my tenure improvements being made on this front, but students should be advised to go looking for advice and resources, because the school has a lot more to offer than you might realize it, and it's easy to miss. It would be easy to underestimate the quality of the school, because there is a certain amount hand holding and treating students more like children than adults (esp. at the undergraduate level), but if you take the initiative and try to get beyond that, it does have a lot to offer.

Question
BYU is a great institution.Political Science
BYU is a great institution. It's a large university, to be sure, but that provides for a diversity of backgrounds and experiences. I found that I learned as much (maybe more) from my interactions with fellow students and faculty outside of the classroom than inside. I got involved with student groups and made some lasting friendships there. It's a private religious school, which certainly isn't for everybody, but if it is for you, then it's a wonderful environment of faith in which to learn. Plus, the tuition is subsidized by the LDS Church, making it an amazing bargain.

I would recommend visiting the campus and speaking to random students about the issues that are important to you. The "best school" is the one that's best for you. That sounds obvious, but I got pretty caught up in the rankings and numbers during high school and looked only at the most "prestigious" schools. I had some other great options, but I'm very glad in retrospect that I chose BYU. I got a great education that prepared me not only for work, but for life. (And I don't have any student loans to pay off). Feel free to e-mail me with questions or for more information. I think these sort of websites are great for getting honest, unbiased info that helps you to be better informed about a very important decision.

Question
Guilford has been a wonderful experience overall forSuper BrilliantPhilosophy
Guilford has been a wonderful experience overall for me. There have been some bumps on the road during my ride here, but overall the scenery has been beautiful, the people fun, and the intellectual atmosphere stimulating. I will not lie, there are plenty of things that could be improved: the admistration could be more honest, the facilities better maintained, the professors better paid. But the godd things far outweigh the bad. The professors are, as a group, winderfully engaging teachers who truly treat each student as an individual. They try to make sure every viewpoint is heard and are always willing to meet outside of class to give any help necessary, often even outside of office hours. The students bring a wealth of different experiences to the school, and even though it is not as diverse in some ways (racially, politically) as one might like, it is pretty diverse for a small liberal arts school. Anyway, I'll quit rambling; if you want to find out what Guilford is really about, come spend a night on campus.
