| Cal Arts is an amazing school, but I would not recommend it straight after high school. Thankfully I went there for my MFA. With so much available to you, it's sometimes easy to get lost. Ideally I would have loved to have studied there with a bit more life experience. The school demands a LOT of focus, and you will only get in what you put in. So if your not self disciplined, I would not recommend this school because there are far too many distractions and lack of structure. However, if you have a passion for your craft and ambition, this is the ideal place to explore and experiment. The faculty is the best, as they are all leaders in their fields. |

Since I graduated nearly 40 years ago, my perspective is |
very different than that of current students. My daughter and I visited the college(2004) when she was deciding what college to attend. The picture painted of the college at our visit was very different than what I experienced as a student. My college experience was wonderful. The main emphasis in those days was to appropriately prepare students for life after graduation. The college was only interested in how to help its students to grow and learn.
Don't get me wrong! We were not coddled!! We were expected
to work to our fullest potential in everything we did.
The presentation that I attended with my daughter told me that attitude had completely disappeared. Now it appears that the college is only interested in its image and
place among "prestigious universities". My daughter decided not to attend TCNJ. She was very successful at the school she attended which seemed to be more like what I rememberof my experiences at Trenton State. Perhaps the name change was the beginning of changes that have been detrimental to what was an excellent school.
