by Western Courier

“The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees will consider a 4.6 percent increase in all-costs (tuition, fees and room and board) for undergraduate students entering the WIU-Macomb campus in Fall 2011 at the Friday, June 3 meeting at the WIU-Quad Cities 60th Street Campus.”

by Western Courier
Jan 01, 2017
“The Macomb city council approved an additional $115,112 appropriation for the University Drive project that is currently underway on the Western Illinois University campus.
The construction company, Hanson Professional Services, Inc., and Macomb officials discovered the road needed additional repairs to the outside lanes.”

No debate: Theater students' talents speak volumes
by Western Courier
Jan 01, 2017
“"Speech and Debate" wasn't quite guerrilla theater, though the cutting-edge black comedy was performed at the Gorilla Tango Theatre in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood, a small (88-seat), storefront performance space that was once a drop-off location for dry cleaning.”
Western baseball finishes up-and-down 2011 campaign
by Western Courier
Jan 01, 2017
“It started with a disappointing loss in Birmingham, Ala. on a 60-degree day in February, and ended with a heartbreaking defeat in Sioux Falls, S.D. on a 60-degree day in May.
In between, Western Illinois' baseball team weathered its share of adversity this season as it crisscrossed the country en route to compiling a 21-38 overall mark.”

Sex sells burgers
by Western Courier
Jan 01, 2017
“Hardees's Restaurant is a hot topic, and not because of it's food. Hardees's commercials from "Hot Chicks Eating Burgers" to the latest "Miss Turkey" ads have had an alarming affect on the public.
These commercials appear sexist and tasteless. Not only are the ads itself a problem, but also Hardees's attitude in justifying the ads is both arrogant and disrespectful.”

Recruiting: Villano looks inside prospects to separate partiers from players
by Western Courier
May 31, 2016
“Mike Villano's pitch for playing baseball at Western Illinois sounds a little like a mixture of recruiting slogans for the U.S. Army, Navy and Marines: it's not just a job, it's an adventure (but it is a job); it's a chance for players to be all that they can be; and he's looking for a few good men.”
Villano: 'I want it to be a miracle for other teams to beat us'
by Western Courier
May 31, 2016
“"Great moments are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here, tonight. One game. If we play 'em 10 times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight we skate with them. Tonight we STAY with them.”
Let's avoid repeat of 1980s America
by Western Courier
May 31, 2016
“A mighty team of 31 individuals from 14 countries announced to the world a discovery of a dangerous device. Their announcement is sure to make waves nationwide and change the face of communication. Ladies and gents, hold on the earth because I'm about to lay down sound ground shaking knowledge: cell phones have been found to cause cancer.”
