FENECH|Farewell to Knapp
by Central Michigan Life
Apr 30, 2009
“Our first conversation went badly.
"Who are the key players, er, guys, er …," I stammered over the phone to men's track coach Jim Knapp.
He interrupted before I could finish the question.
"We don't have any key athletes," he said, sternly. "We're a team.”

WEISSENBORN| Album sometimes fails to catch listener's attention
by Central Michigan Life
Apr 21, 2009
“Nine solid tracks of funky folk-rock.
That's what Midland-based singer-songwriter Dan Vaillancourt offers on his latest studio album, "Lovely Distractions."
Clocking it at just under 37 minutes, "Lovely Distractions" is a feel-good, rollicking affair that, while not perfect, is certainly a solid release from a local musician and CMU alumnus.”

Movies blow up the summer season
by Central Michigan Life
Apr 21, 2009
“Nothing says summer like the end of exams, explosions and Hugh Jackman sporting 18-inch metal claws and perfectly shampooed hair.
"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" is prepped to kick off the summer movie season with a growl, a slash and a bang on May 1, and what follows promises to be no less exciting.”

by Central Michigan Life
Apr 21, 2009
“Margo Jonker coached 1,555 games thus far in her 30-year career at the top of the softball program.
Of those games, few were harder to bear than the last 35, in which the Chippewas posted a 9-26 record, including 1-12 in the Mid-American Conference.
"It is extremely frustrating and it is very difficult," Jonker said.”

Vault to redemption
by Central Michigan Life
Apr 21, 2009
“The sound exploded throughout the indoor track - the kind of unusually loud, 'something just happened' sound that can capture an entire crowd's attention at any given moment.
It was Jan. 11, 2008, at the Chippewa Open. Athletes and spectators alike stopped what they were doing, turned toward the center of the track and wondered what just took place.”
