I found Moody to be a great education. Having attended three colleges and recieving three degrees, I found Moody to be the best training I recieved in my field. It is academically rigourous and excels in many areas of academic studies. All schools have there share of professors floating through just as there are students who attend who are not serious (avoid the weak professors and take the challangeing ones and will not be an issue). On the whole, Moody faculty was excellent. My last degree was over $15,000 a year at one of the most prestigious seminaries in the country. Some Moody Professors were adjunct faculty while in seminary and they were rated as very tough. I found they were teaching the same level as the undergrad standards at Moody. I found the spiritual life at Moody is mixed. Those students that pursued God while they were there found Him and walked away better equiped to serve and more mature in their faith. Those that came expecting to be spoon fed, left the school starving and bitter and jealous toward the school and all those who grew in their faith. I sought accountability and found it, when I asked for prayer, people prayed. When I wanted encouragement, most were encouraging. After 10 years, my best friends are the friends I met at Moody. I found most of the chapels while in attendance were mixed. Some were not good, most were pretty good, and some were great. Moody students can get spoiled. After a few great chapels, they tend to expect them all to be great. The ministry opportunities are rich at Moody if you follow through with them. I participated in street evangelism, helping the homeless, working with youth, preaching in a local church, club ministries, teaching etc.. I saw God doing some amazing work through many of the students. I also saw lots of students wasting their opportunities. They became so obsessed with judging what they percieved as weaknesses in others and the school they ended up squandering their own opportunities and walking away bitter. Moody will not make you spiritual or make you spiritually mature. It provides an environment for learning, growing Christians to be cultivated toward maturity. You get out what you put in. If you want Moody to make you spiritual, go somewhere else. If you pursueing God and feel God calling you into ministry, it is a great school providing great opportunities at a great price.
I found Moody to be hard working and dilegent toward serving their students. I met with faculty and staff regularly as a student and since being a student. They pray for the students and do amazing things with the little resources they have. For a tuition free school to maintain there faculty, campus and staff as well as they do is a testimony to their stewardship and commitment to the Lord. As prayer partners with the president of the school I learned how much energy, love, care and concern is poored out on a daily basis. He also helped my sister in law find Christ. Moody provides a disciplined environment for Spiritual growth and can help the believer training for ministry get the education they need.
