Even though I did not end up staying in music, what I learned as a undergraduate within and without the music program at Northern Illinois University has proven to be very valuable. I certainly left the university very different than when I came in.
I would recommend to High School and undergraduate students to look at their undergraduate program as more of a overall learning experience, and to cherish not just what you learn in your major courses, but also what you learn in your core courses and in your experiences outside of your courses.
