Purdue University

Management Consultant
University : Purdue University ( 1999 )
Major : Economics
Still in Field? :Yes
Effort Level : 1/5 (Downright Lazy)
Gender : Male

Jobs held since college:
1. Investment Banking
2. Investment Banker
3. Management Consultant

Purdue is a great school overall. But I think it is best for those who are super-smart but are downright lazy. Purdue professors will put you to the grind, they have that crazy work ethic that I have never encountered in my home state of Boston. You will come out still super-smart, but also workaholic. I have always been able to outthink most people, but now I am also able to outwork most people. yeah, I am so proud and amazed at myself.

    Other positives about Purdue is:
1)Average salary out of the school of management in my year was around 45-50 thousand dollars. I was a pretty average student, and I got hired at a Chicago investment bank. Made 45,000 my first year, and up to about 80,000 in my third. There were only 3 hires, the other two guys were UChicago grads. So you won't miss much by coming here.

2)Purdue name is pretty portable, especially in East & West Coast. After high school, I picked Purdue over Texas, UNC, Dartmouth, and Brown. Looking back, I can say Dartmouth was the only regret I had, and that is only after hearing party stories from my brother who goes there. then again, I probably would have flunked anyway. Still, I am applying to Tuck for my MBA, so who knows.

    3) Kickass alumni. We've got about a gazillion astronauts, including Neil Armstrong, half a dozen Nobel prize winners, and the highest number of Fortune 500 CEOs after Harvard as per Fortune magazine.

    4) Did I mention they teach you how to work?

    1) It is in the middle of nowehere.
    2) there is nothing to do but study
    3) LAME parties.
    4) Tuition is creeping up
    5) Did I mention it is in the middle of nowhere. before you even think about coming, please visit first because corn is not for everyone.
