I graduated from William and Mary in 2003 with a degree in International Studies with a concentration in East Asian Studies. I studied abroad in China, and I think that everyone should try and study abroad if they have the time. If money is an issue, WM does have some study abroad scholarships that cover some if not all the costs of travel.

I do agree with some of the earlier comments that William and Mary has a lack of a social life and that the Greeks do pretty much run the social scene. But I think there are other opportunites avaliable, if you are willing to look for them. Mainly these consist of the social and language clubs, but if you are looking for clubs and bars, you will not find that at WM. You have to drive all the way out to Norfolk to find anything like that. And by the way, since WM is so old (over 300 yrs) it was not really built with cars in mind, so underclassmen are not allowed to bring cars with them. So clubs are out of the question until junior year, unless you want to risk getting tickets and parking around the 'burg. This lack of a social scene was bearable for the first 3 years, but by senior year, I know that a lot of seniors just can't wait to get out.

Overall, I enjoyed my time at WM. The professors were accessable (for one CS class, I had a standing appointment with a prof when a new project was assigned because I always needed help, and the prof always made time for me, even though he was the head of the dept, and had other things to do), the education was top quality, and the people for the most part are intelligent. And going to WM gave me the opportunity to travel to China, which I don't think I would have done anywhere else, and has shaped my interest in international political science.
