If you look at the comments for the surrounding city you will notice a really low grade. I have lived here all my life so I enjoy it but it does have a bad rap. It is a medium sized small city, 100,000 people. As long as you dont want every minute of your day filled with new and exciting things you are fine. We have clubs, bars, shopping, restaurants, bookstores, music shops, etc. so dont let the review get you down. If you want hands on help from professors this is the place to be. They know you by name and help you whenever you need it. Not like other universities where the professors never have office hours and when they do they act so much better than the students. You can find the professors all the time, if not in their office, they are walking in the halls and will answer any questions you have anytime. They will even give out phone numbers and email addresses so you can reach them at home. They have a wonderful Biology program because there arent as many students as larger universities so they can give you hands on help in labs. If you want to be in the medical field, the professros set up a mock interview for you before you go to the real med school interview so you are more comfortable. Everyday, they are building new things and really improving the school. The cost is incredibly low as well if money is tight as it is with most college students. It has really prepared me for my Master's courses in Public Health and for my 2 jobs, which just landed in my lap after graduation. That goes to show that a degree from UTPB is really worth the time and effort.
