    My degree from PCC was in Secondary Education (English & Business). I was at PCC when Dr. Yarusinsky was head of the education department. He was invaluable. So was Dr. Young. Neither of them are there any longer. They didn't fit into PCC's mold, apparently.

    My background being given, let me explain the several problems that I have with the "education" that I received. First of all, many of my teachers received their undergraduate and, if they even had one, their graduate degree from PCC. The faculty that I learned the most from had earned graduate degrees and doctorates from other institutions where they actually received a quality education. The other faculty that I had, were, for the most part, a waste of time.

    Another huge issue is that PCC is unaccredited. I checked into several graduate schools wishing to continue my education, but none of them would even consider my degree from PCC. I was informed that I would have to apply to their undergraduate school and complete a new degree before continuing my education any further. This was never explained to me by PCC. Instead, I was often told that I would have no trouble working on a further degree after I graduated. I was told that accreditation meant nothing.

    While I would love to say that I don't have a problem with the rules, I can't honestly say that. PCC fosters an oppressive, debilitating atmosphere that teaches students to "conform to the spirit of the institution" rather than "conform to the image of Christ." Students live in fear that they will be "turned in" to the administration and be dismissed ("shipped"). Students and faculty alike simply disappear in the middle of the night with no explanation of where or why they have gone. There is no real student court or any recourse at all for those who feel that they have been wrongly accused. Instead, they are gotten rid of; no grace; no forgiveness.

    If you would like to look back on your college days with fondness and remember the fun that you had, if you would like to have a degree that will get you further in life, if you would like to be excited about and willing to brag about your almamater, I strongly recommend that you do not attend PCC. The cost is attractive, but remember that you get what you pay for. PCC is not worth the money or the time.
