First off, Spartan has a LOT of scholarships available that people don't take advantage of. I happen to be one of the scholarship winners, so i paid $0 tuition. If more people would just try to apply for them they would probably complain less as well as pay less. I did okay in high school, but nothing fancy. I didn't have a 4.0 or anything, more like a 3.2 gpa in HS. So these scholarships are available to REAL people...not just the over achievers.
Second, almost everyone works that goes to Spartan. Most peoples parents don't have the money to support them completely while in college. Even though Spartan has people to HELP get students jobs while in school, a lot of the effort of looking does come from the student. You have to be willing to take the time to find a job you will like and can work with your schedule. Also, your not guarenteed a job, you have to be able to go to an interview and apply yourself. Getting hired is part of getting a job.
After graduation, the school will help set up interviews with employers. But once again, getting the job is the hard part, and an interview is all the student, the school can't help you once your in the interview.
The only thing really bad that I will say about the school is the Spartan Landing. The student housing is a MESS. I lived there for about 6 months and people got robbed, there was no help with this matter. it was nice living near all you friends, but at the same time, it was just a wreck/mess. they tried claiming that i owed them money after i left, but i didn't. I DONT RECOMEND STUDENT HOUSING AT SPARTAN. find an apartment with someone in the city. you can get a two bedroom 2 bath over on riverside pretty cheep, even though that would be 20 min to school, it is worth it.
