I feel that SJVC has done wonders for me. If I wouldn't have heard their ad on the radio and come in to one of their seminars, I don't know where I would be today.

I took the Business Administration program in 2007 and graduated in 2008. It was the best 14 months of my life. Not only did I get an AS degree in 14 months, but I got the skill and confidence to go into the workforce with my head held high because of the piece of paper that I got (MY DEGREE).

I couldn't do the traditional way of college, before I found SJVC, I had numerous attempts to achieve my degree from community colleges, to transfer to a 4 year university, but it was hard. The classes ranged from 8-16 weeks long, the classes were too big, and the teachers pretty much told you what page the homework was on, started lecturing and that was it. No referals to tutoring, no extra attempt to help me with problems, even though my grades were showing that I was having difficulties in that subject. Nothing. The traditional system does work for some, but it definately doesn't work for all.

At SJVC, the classes are only 5 weeks long, so if it was a subject that I just couldn't stand, I'd just have to grit my teeth for 5 weeks, versus 8-16 weeks. Also, when my grades started to suffer, I was not only approached by the teacher, but by the dean, and they referred me to tutoring, or even stayed after class with me to help me understand the problems that I didn't understand.

I believe that all the negative comments are from those that expect the world to be handed to them. They expect that when they signed the papers at SJVC that they weren't going to have to actually work for their career. The thing is, is that you have to do the work still. The world doesn't come on a Platinum platter, no matter how much or how little you spend. You got to do what you are asked of, and maybe you'll see results.

Readers, keep into consideration that the negative comments are overpowering the positive, because those that have positive things to say, like myself are actually too busy and wrapped up with work and their lives, and success, they don't have the time to come one here and bash their education. They are taking their education to the next level... they are taking it to the CAREER level. The negivity comes from those that are sitting at home wanting a new life, wanting a career, but that's it. They just sit there at home and want. They aren't doing the work. They have the time to sit on the computer and post nasty things about the college. When in actuallity they are trying to find someone to blame for their laziness and their lack of effort to work for their success. So the result is pointing the finger at the school... But when the finger should be pointed at themselves.
