    The only thing this college has taught me is that you have to do it yourself. The social life on campus is very isolating; you must find the people you want to connect with yourself. There is almost no help from the university to encourage bonds and friendships while many other colleges are notorious for their networking and relationships built. Now, if a university like that is what you are looking for, then feel free to apply. I made my closest friends at this university and I am very grateful for that. But that could have happened anywhere and must easier. Many people leave university with almost no close bonds with their fellow peers, and UCSD has the nickname "UC Socially Dead" for good reason.

    If you're going to come here for a graduate program, please do. The graduate students and their research are treated very highly by the administration. Undergraduates are a completely different story. They are treated like cash cows for the university to prop up their research projects.
