I had to build a portfolio to get in. It doesnt really matter Get in the highest level as you can because it will pay off later on. If you come in with a low level of skill then you will always struggle with school. A good scholarship is a good sign that your work is good.

Put together an amazing portfolio and really research what field of design you're getting into. I thoroughly recommend volunteering time in appropriate studios before even applying, its what I did, and I've greatly benefited in my studies and internship opportunities because of it. Then rob a bank so you can afford it.

I went to Academy of Art to build my portfolio. At the time I was not aware of the PCC route, and it was hard to find a way to Art Center from Out-of-State. It seems the east coast (where I grew up) has no clue about this place. I think some of the best students I have seen have come through PCC. Stan Kong trains them well.
