It is important to be self-disciplined and a self-starter. The online world of education is certainly not a cake walk and it requires rigor and discipline.
Open admission, so it's easy to get in, but that does not mean it's an easy school. Undergrad courses, from what I have heard, are normal difficulty, but the grad stuff will really make you work!
I have yet to meet someone (within the military) that was unable to pursue any of AMU's undergraduate programs. Then again, all military members (to my knowledge) are required to possess at least a high school diploma/equivalency in order to join; I believe that this was the only requirement.
