Accounting
You just need GPA 3.0. If you are like me who can't stand the cruel world, think so many time before you choose the college.
Chemistry
My advice would be to work hard in high school and score high on the SATs.
English
Getting in is tough especially through normal admissions. Most girls I know scored over 1400 on their SATs and were in the top 2% of their class
English
Very hard to get in. I know someone who scored over 1300 on the SAT and was in the top 5% of her class and she was not accepted
English
Emphasize how much you want to be here and why. The major features are: the best of both worlds (small college within a large university), a women's college, and the fact that it's in New York City.
| Math
Good test scores, high GPA, the usual. You can see the average stats of the college on its website, and the students here are definitely not academic slouches. More importantly, make it clear that you know Barnard, and that's why you want to come here. The essays are read; that, I can personally promise you.
Philosophy
I applied early desicion. DON'T do it.
Physics
The school has approxiamtely a 30 percent acceptance rate but overall it's easy to get into. The admission staff is looking for a lot of "diversity" meaning they basically take you if you are Jewish, a girl, and/or a lesbian who is struggling to find herself. (I only fill the girl category so I'm shocked that I got in)
Physics
Extra-curricular activites and personality will get you further than grades with this admissions staff.
History/Histories (art history/etc.)
I showed a lot of interest by visiting Barnard earlier than others (my junior year of HS), contacting the admissions office frequently, and expressing my love for the college on my application. My essay also stood out from the rest. I think in my case it was less about scores and grades and more about my personal ambition and drive to succeed. Just show them you really want to be here and you have what it takes to kick ass here. Be intelligent AND interesting. They don't want any narrow-minded bookworms here. (Although unfortunately, they've let quite a few slip through.) They want women who know how to work hard and party hard, per se.
