I applied early desicion. DON'T do it.
SAT: 1340 Female
I applied early to Barnard and was deferred toDec 30 2004Undecided
I applied early to Barnard and was deferred to the regular admission pool. It seems to me that they really try and look at the whole student more than a lot of other schools, just test scores and grades aren't going to do it all for you. They like girls with strong talents and ambition. Be confident and strong in interviews, act like a Barnard woman! And they love if you comment on why you'd like to go to a women's college.
ACT: 34 SAT: 1400 Female
Extra-curricular activites and personality will get you further thanSep 14 2004Physics
Extra-curricular activites and personality will get you further than grades with this admissions staff.
ACT: 33 SAT: 1470 Female
Good test scores, high GPA, the usualJun 15 2004Math
Good test scores, high GPA, the usual. You can see the average stats of the college on its website, and the students here are definitely not academic slouches. More importantly, make it clear that you know Barnard, and that's why you want to come here. The essays are read; that, I can personally promise you.
SAT: 1570 Female
The acceptance rate is misleading, because most applicants areNov 11 2003Economics
The acceptance rate is misleading, because most applicants are actually competitive, unlike schools that get tens of thousands of "just in case!" applications that would never be accepted. Numbers aside, the average Barnard student is very involved, and has been for most of her life. You have to have something to set you apart from the crowd--variety of experiences counts more than ethnic diversity.
