I wrote two Essays -one for commonapp and one for the Bennington supplement-, talked to them a lot and set up an interview. The school is small enough that they will remember you if you show a lot of interest. The essays are really important, so put as much effort as possible into them. Academics are important but they don't care much about one or two bad grades. They are interested in your personality and interests and want to see what you would add to the community.

If you want to go to Bennington, then TALK to us! All you have to do is tell people here about you, and try to really get involved in what this school is about. If it's something that really works for you, if you're really excited, interesting, engaged, we'll be interested in you, too. That seems to be the defining factor. Academics are certainly taken into account, but not as much as whether this seems like a place where you could really expand into yourself.
