Math
Aug 22 2010
I was somewhat lucky, as scoring an 800 on my SAT Math was all the selling I had to do to get in at all the schools I applied to (at the risk of bragging, but who cares what I did in HS at this point?).

To get in, though, you should definitely be well positioned amongst your peers. Most students I knew who were accepted, graduated HS with a high-B to low-A GPA, scored around 1150-1300 on the old SAT, and also participated in extracurriculars. I did know one guy who scored below 1100, but his extracurriculars were so spectacular that he was admitted.

A campus visit is enough to show interest, and from there, make sure your admissions essay is compelling and self-promoting.
