When I approached my Pastor about being a Minister,Dec 25 2011Religion/Religious
When I approached my Pastor about being a Minister, he recommended only one school to me, and that was BJU. I had a great amount of respect for him, and trusted his advise implicitly. I dove into my studies with a desire to soak up every drop of the whole educational experience, and really looked forward to all of the friendly debate with the faculty, and my peers. I was well aware of the rules atmosphere, but what I was not prepared for was the culture of bigotry, closedmindedness, relgious elitism, intellectual dishonesty, and distrust. Whenever I found myself before the Dorm Supervisor, or the Dean of Man, it was almost always for things that I would say rather than do as I tried to do what was expected of me. By the end of my Sophomore year I learned that I couldn't trust people with my thoughts, or feelings. The professors, BTW, had to be equally careful as a student could report them as well. I did find one professor that I could trust, and he me. I will never forget Dr Charles Smith as I found in him a kindred spirit. It was because of BJU that I became so disillusioned with being a Pastor, that I walked away from the idea till this day. I suppose that it was just as well, for I would have screwed up my parishioners as they messed me up. But God has been good and gracious, and I am 4 years into finding my way back to him as I am now exposed to a life with Christ that is love centered with an abundance of grace as I live out the Gospel in God's story. My advise to anyone thinking of attending there is don't. If I had to do it over again, I would go some place else.

I did nothingNov 20 2011Psychology
I did nothing. Absolutely nothing. I had no extracurricular activities (parents wouldn't allow it). I took no entrance exam, submitted no application. I graduated from BJA, and was just waived up.

I just applied. I think BJU rarely turns anyone down.
ACT: 32 Female
I sent in an applicationSep 10 2011Education
I sent in an application. The application does require references. The ACT is also a requirement.
It is not difficult to get in if you have a desire to attend a Godly Bible-believing school. I would recommend that you work very hard in high school. Though their acceptance policy is fairly liberal when it comes to grades, they do not pass you just because you attended class. You have to be able to earn the grade even if that means taking the class over and over.

This school is unabashedly Christian in viewpoint and codeJul 22 2011Other
This school is unabashedly Christian in viewpoint and code of conduct. Most people who have problems with the school have problems with the student handbook. If you don't agree with it, you didn't have to go to the school!
