BOC says: "We
look for students who are intellectually curious, creative, apt to
benefit from small classes and challenging professors, able to contribute
to life outside the classroom, potential leaders and concerned about
working toward the Common Good; that is, making a positive
difference in the world. Read more at www.bowdoin.edu/admissions/apply/ " | | Students who got into BOC say: | |

Have a passion, do well at school. It's a crap shot applying here if you are white.
Computer Science
Be yourself and be an individual. Bowdoin doesn't only look at scores and gpa, it looks at the whole individual. So be active in school, have a passion, and be strong academically.
English
I think my essays on my application were very well-written and passionate, and that may be what put me over the edge. I also was a National Merit Finalist, but I can't really say "be one of those!", because it's not really something you can control... good luck to all of you!
History/Histories (art history/etc.)
Had good grades, strong extracurriculars in several areas, quality recommendations.

History/Histories (art history/etc.)
Bowdoin is a liberal arts school that is highly selective. Work on your histories, foreign language, and composition abilities. It does have good science departments, but you will have to take some courses in some type of literature or history along the way and you need to be prepared to do high-level work in those courses.
Undecided
I think I got into Bowdoin because I had perfect SAT scores. The official acceptance letter, however, praised my involvement in my high school extracurriculars, such as a community service and martial arts, both which I really did care about a lot and spend hours on. I wrote about them in my college essays.
Political Science
Take tough classes, get top grades, indulge your diverse interests so that the admissions committee sees a broad personality.
Political Science
The admissions office looks at the essay before anything else, so make sure it is amazing.
Your essay does not have to be about a life-changing moment, but it should be something that is unique and something only you can say.
I was impressed with the acceptance letter because it states your involvement in different activities, which shows you that Bowdoin carefully looked at and examined your application
