Most students have the grades to get in so past just getting solid grades and SAT scores I would make sure you have extracurricular activities and that you write a unique and engaging college essay which I do believe is a great way to push you over if you are on the fence.

Good grades, some extracurriculars. Do well on standardized tests and make your essays interesting.

I think the number one thing that can help you get into BU is a good essay. These days, a lot of students have high SAT and ACT scores along with good high school grades. So what sets you apart from them? A good essay. Think about it, admissions gets thousands of applicants. You want to stick out from the throng of potential students. For me, I did not have great high school grades and I had average SAT and ACT scores, but I still got in because, I believe, of my essay.

I got in because I was in top 10% of my class, did lots of clubs and volunteer work.

Wanna get into BU? Work hard in school and show you are a "well-rounded person." Everyone who gets into BU is smart, no doubt about it. But, what else did you do to besides the grades, makes the difference.
