BU is a very competitive school, and most people assume incorrectly that acceptance is all about the numbers. BU accepts students based on how well the student fits into the university.

I know of several situations when a student was accepted to an ivy but not BU. Does that mean BU is a better school than that Ivy? No, it simply means that student was a better fit for Dartmouth, Harvard, etc, but not a good fit for BU.

Choose carefully.

BU likes decent SAT and GPA'sAug 06 2005Engineering Department
BU likes decent SAT and GPA's. I got a full ride with a 1230 (700M) (4.2 GPA) (1/210), but thats b/c i come from a poor community with bad english prep. Ive over that now, but Im here b.c of my ec's. If you sell yourself good enough it shouldnt be a problem.
SAT: 1440 Male
You either need to get good grades and goodJul 05 2005Communications
You either need to get good grades and good SAT scores, unless you're really wealthy, in which case you can be dumb as a stack of phone books and still get an acceptance letter. This sounds a little harsh, but I've met people who have gotten SAT scores WAY below BU's average and have gotten in (this people are generally put into the College of General Studies [CGS] or "Crayons, Glue and Scissors" as it's known around campus.)
SAT: 1320 Male
Submitted an appApr 14 2005Computer Science
Submitted an app. I had great grades coming in, so my App wasn't really a problem.
