I applied to one college and crossed my fingers. Ball State was my number one choice for school. I took the SATs twice hoping to get a better school and then I applied.

I applied near the end of the fall semester of my senior year in high school. The application was easy to fill out and organized, and required a page-long essay and small processing fee. Two months later, I was notified of my acceptance. Some minor paperwork followed, but after that was smooth sailing.

Ball State is moderately selective, so roughly 75% of the 10,000 applicants are admitted. Still, if you have a 3.0 GPA, graduate in the top half of your class, and have an ACT score of 21 or higher, you're virtually guaranteed admission.

If you can't get into Ball State, then don't expect to get in many other places.
