Distance Learning center...What can I say, they were utterly incompetent. My entrance (placement) exams were handled horribly. For almost 1 1/2 years they had erroneously posted my (math placement) at a level that placed me above the requirements, so that I satisfied that requirement. Two weeks before the final semester, I had to wrestle with all manner of staff and received all manner of conflicting information that led me astray and confused about what and how to make up for their mistaken placement posting.

As for the Financial aid office, - there was a young lady in that department who had an acute God complex, and condescended every time I walked in. It got so bad, that I had to bring my wife in to witness the severity of their arrogance. I was insulted and degraded to the point that I had to demeaned to see the one in charge, and dealt only with her. They always acted like they were being deluged, hunkered down like they were in a fox hole when you walked in. This is because they were completely unorganized and they possessed horrible interpersonal skills. In the mean time my files were unkempt and they were disorganized, and incapable of explaining the process. I missed several disbursements.

I waited 8 years after high school before going back to college. and going to Coastline was a breeze. It's not so crowded when you take your placement tests, and get books. make sure you aim high and take courses that are transfereable to both CSU and UC. Just in case you find yourself capable of going futher, you'll be ready.

What did I do to get in? Humm , well what every student does I guess (B&M and virtual). I applied, sent in my military and civilian transcripts, selected a few classes then got on with it!

The process was quite easy, just like a community College should be.
