Get an interview, the admissions staff is very personable and friendly towards people, and very non-bureaucratic. (I got a personal signed card from my admissions officer congratulating me on getting in) If you show that you are a very intelligent, interesting person, this will boost you chances by a lot.

The interview is ultra-important. If you show a lot of interest in the school, you have a good chance of getting in.

I had good grades, a good SAT score, and I wrote a pretty good essay. Getting in was not difficult.

If you want to get in, have good grades and a good SAT or ACT score. If you only have one or the other, write a killer essay and come in for an interview, if you can. That helps a lot.
