Aside from exhibiting that you have been getting goodFeb 28 2011Biology
Aside from exhibiting that you have been getting good grades in high school, I would recommend that you show that you have been active and successful in your school. The arts help even if you aren't planning on that being your major or minor. Participation in school clubs and activities, including sports but not required will be an asset.Visit the school before you apply. Talk to the admission department and get a tour to see if its a good match for you. Show that you have been working on your leadership skills and that you are serious about your education.

I had a wonderful admission representative who was moreNov 28 2009Political Science
I had a wonderful admission representative who was more than helpful. I would recommend taking advantage of the admission staff. Most of the representatives are willing to put prospectives in touch with current students to discuss specific programs or activities, so ask for that if you have more questions. An overnight visit is a great way to get a good feel for the school.

As far as getting in, the acceptance rate is not terribly competitive. It's important to have a decent GPA/ACT score, but barring that, look to prove that you're a hard worker and can benefit from the school (through discussions with the rep, teacher recommendations, your writing sample, etc.)

I took AP classes in high schoolNov 25 2009Education
I took AP classes in high school. They made college way easier. I struggled in high school in those classes to get A's but doing that then made it so much easier to suceed now since I knew what to expect.

Get good recommendations, that can really help to sell you.

I also made sure to push the volunteering since Saint Ben's still has a lot of volunteer opportunities and shows that you are not only have strong self-interests, but also expand your horizons through service. Anything to do with the community word, we're big on that here :)
