In high school I took every AP class offered and did many extracurricular activities. I also did volunteer work. I graduated from hs with perfect grades and had a 28 ACT. Getting into Centre is fairly competitive. Somewhere around 50-60% of applicants will be accepted. The average ACT is about a 28 and the GPA is around a 3.6 or 3.7. Many applicants are in the top 10% of their hs class. That being said Centre admissions is not entirely a numbers game. The numbers help, but the admissions counselors are more interested in the big picture. If you are a little lacking in some area a strong essay and letters of recommendation can go a long way. Visiting the school and speaking with a counselor also tilts things in your favor. The school also appears to looking for more out of state students, so that may work in your favor as well.

I took the ACT and SAT and did not find it to be that competitive. but then again, i was an above-average high school student and centre is a campus filled with all of the above-average high school students. So, once you arrive, you realize that everyone is on a level playing field and competition makes things tough.

All centre students are good writers with high aptitude,Mar 25 2007Art & Design Department
all centre students are good writers with high aptitude, good grades and test scores (the college act average is a 29) and are VERY involved in extra cur activities. Go visit, interview with admissions and if you have a special talent, like art or music, contact the department head - they love to recruit for the arts programs. Music and theatre offer nice scholarships, too, that not many people know about.
