It is true about most universities, but trying to show the college that you are a diverse person and do not indulge in only academia. I think colleges appreciate the fact that their student is/was well-rounded. An athlete, being in clubs and/or holding leadership roles, academic achievement, etc.
You should try to visit, take a tour, and stay overnight with an ambassador to really get to know the scoop and insides of what this university is really about. Make sure that this is the university you would like to be at,and somewhere you could be comfortable in.

2) Come from a state that is not Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, or Illinois. Historically, more than three-quarters of Case's undergrad students have come from these states, and Case badly wants to recruit applicants from elsewhere.
