These are just things that helped me, if you don't have these qualities it's fine you can still get admitted.

International student (From New Zealand)
I came from a catholic high school
Recruited athlete
Heaps of extra curricular activities
Leadership groups
Lots of volunteer work
Above average academics ? I only got a 1530 (all three sections) on my SAT reasoning, but I chose not to submit my SAT as it is optional at this college.
DO AN INTERVIEW. If I can do one and I?m from NZ, then anybody can do one.
You are 40% more likely to get accepted Early Decision, just for the record.

You need to be in the honors classes at your high school and have 6 or more AP classes under your belt and be in the top 10% of your class with a GPA of 3.7 or higher. SAT scores are optional but most are around the 2000 range if submitted.

I was well within the top 10% of my class (19 out of 350) and was captain of the cross country team and varsity wrestler. Scored decently on the SATs (600V,690M). I took all honors classes and AP classes available at my public high school in Massachusetts. I went on to get an MBA at top ten program at University of Michigan and went on to a stellar career at Microsoft Corp and I am now well off financially and in a great career in a job I love. Many of the skills I use in my job I learned at Holy Cross. Being able to write clearly and effectively and to organize my time well to get assignments accomplished and getting a broad background in history, philosophy and religious studies has helped me tremendously as a person.
