I would recommend knowing what major direction you are interested in would reduce you risk of transferring to somewhere else a lot. Also, make sure you want to stay in the same community for 4 years.

I was 7th of 250 in my hs class and took six APs, getting a 4 or above on 5 of them.
I suggest taking AP classes, because even though you can get accepted without them, they will help prepare you for the coursework.

I suggest that you talk to the admissions department of Dickinson before you send in your application. Dickinson keeps track of emails sent to admissions and notes if students have been to information sessions or tours. The more active you are, the more it seems that you are very eager to come to the school.

The school is pretty stingy about giving scholarships. Initially they did not offer my any money to attend, which is horrific because they are an EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE school. I made a powerpoint presentation of my involvement in the performing arts to show them the artsy side I would bring to campus and they awarded me 10,000 dollars in a scholarship. They like when people make the extra effort and show that they really want to be at that school.
