Tips mention:
Interview (3),
ACT/SAT (19),
Grades (13),
Sports (3),
Essay (12) | Study, write a great essay and work hard on SATs. Duke seems to really care about SAT scores and AP classes. I thought I did well on the SATs, but it seems like everyone else must have too. I did an alumni interview. I don't know if it helped or not. This place is just flat out one of the hardest schools to get into. Geography and Geosciences | Jan 14 2009 | Duke likes people who make four-year commitments. A sport is a good way to do this, but it can be math team, Science Olympiad, Art club, cualquier, as long as you've gotten to be president/captain or something and have shown commitments. If you have an interview, make sure to know before you go exactly why you want to go to Duke because they will ask you and they are taking notes. Good luck!
Have a good GPA and ACT/SAT scores. Essays and the interview were also helpful. I was dedicated to many extracurricular activities and had a well-rounded application. Visit the school campus to know the students to see if you are a good fit. I loved that Duke wasn't a stuck up school and that freshmen can have single dorms (most require you to have roommates). Duke heavily recruits minority students, so apply if you are a minority and take a chance. The Duke student body is diverse not just in race, but also in every aspect possible. They really do a great job with it, making the atmosphere flexible yet educational. If you are accepted, prepare to be challenged! |
