Resume. Good scores, grades, and a well written essay are a must, but nearly everyone who applies has those. It really comes down to your resume, what did you do in high school that makes you unique, and someone Duke wants as part of the student body (i.e. beta club, national honors society, or valedictorian aren’t gonna get you much). Also make sure you visit the school...it helps in the application.
