Tips mention: Interview (3), ACT/SAT (12), Grades (23), Sports/Extracurriculars (12), College Essay (12)
Duke likes people who make four-year commitmentsJan 14 2009Geography and Geosciences
Duke likes people who make four-year commitments. A sport is a good way to do this, but it can be math team, Science Olympiad, Art club, cualquier, as long as you've gotten to be president/captain or something and have shown commitments.

If you have an interview, make sure to know before you go exactly why you want to go to Duke because they will ask you and they are taking notes.

Good luck!

Get in the top 10 (not 10%, 10) atJan 08 2009Physics
Get in the top 10 (not 10%, 10) at your school, get a 2200+ on your SAT's, get a 3.8+ unweighted GPA, and do a decent slurry of extracurrics and you should be fine.
SAT: 2340 Male
I worked extremely hard in high school and wasOct 15 2008Other
I worked extremely hard in high school and was a part of many different extracurricular activities. I would recommend being a strong member of one or two extracurricular activities that are easily recognizable and are generally considered legitimate (being President of your high school's ultimate frisbee club is not what I'm talking about). I had a 4.0 coming into Duke and was taken aback by the amount of work for each subject, especially languages.

From what I have heared if you do excellentJul 03 2008Other
From what I have heared if you do excellent on the interwie, essay, ACT, and the SAT that will help you a decent a amount. So I'm suggesting if a person is extremly bright and extremly well roundes( honors, AP, volenteer, Clubs) you will be a shoe in. Soon you will be another blue devil.
