I joined clubs (such as sustainability corp, prehealth club, and dance alloy). Its super important to push yourself to try new things to see what you like and what you don't. This provides community and knowledge of resources that you can use your entire time at Earlham. I also recommend being patient with your transition into college. Earlham is special with a lot of different kinds of people, although this is amazing, its probably an environment you are not used to. Create conversations and don't be scared to ask questions! Don't take yourself too seriously, everyone is still figuring themselves out and their beliefs!

My grades were okay, but nothing crazySep 29 2018Education
My grades were okay, but nothing crazy. I slacked off a little in highschool. My test scores were decent. You don't have to submit test scores, but I did since my grades were so-so. I think it helped.

You definitely should take the AP courses in High School. You can get credit for them at Earlham. That way, you may be able to end up doing a double major, or it frees you up to take an interesting looking class "just for fun." Also, my AP courses from highschool definitely helped me most when it comes to being able to do the work here. The academics here can be challenging, especially depending on your major. Some majors are known as being extra difficult.

As an education major, the course work can be mixed. The intro courses aren't too hard, but you can do an accelerated program to get both your bachelor's and your master's in just four years, so you graduate with a master's degree (Schools in Indiana pay much better for a master's degree - I am not sure how that is in other states, though.) If you do the accelerated program, the work can be very challenging.

SATs and AP scores are optional, but, if you have good ones, you should submit them, because they can help. Grades are important, but not the most important thing at Earlham. Community involvement, service, and extra curricular seemed more important. Make sure you have good, honest personal essays and great letters of recommendation, though.

Earlham is fairly easy to get into, but don't assume that means the work is easy. If you are going to come here, you need to be willing to work hard and study hard. You cannot skim by.

Campus visits and interviews make a huge difference EarlhamDec 07 2011Other
Campus visits and interviews make a huge difference; Earlham places more emphasis on those things than grades or scores.
