Fordham University offers a fantastic Semifinalist scholarship that paysFeb 10 2004Other
Fordham University offers a fantastic Semifinalist scholarship that pays full-tuition all four years for National Merit Semifinalists. I have one of these scholarships. Also, there is a Presidential Scholarship available that covers tuition, room, & board for those with at least a 1400 and a high GPA. Both scholarships are great for anyone looking for a challenging liberal-arts school in a great city.

Still, Fordham is easier to get into than other schools on the east coast (and especially so compared with NYU or Columbia), though this surprising picture is starting to change.

Fordham is becoming a more and more competitive schoolFeb 07 2004Economics
Fordham is becoming a more and more competitive school. My class average SAT score was over 1200. Also, being a well rounded student is important. Keep your GPA up and get involved in activities in high school and outside of high school. I had an interview which I would highly recommend. It lets them meet you and get more of an idea of who you are than your essay or application can tell them. Work hard and make sure you make the deadlines and you should be fine!

* Come for a tourDec 04 2003Undecided
* Come for a tour. The tour guides are very helpful and for the most part, they are honest.
* Send in your application as early as possible and get your FAFSA in if you want to qualify for scholarships. (At nearly $40G, you might need one.)
* Set up an interview. It was good to sit across a table from an admissions officer. They got to see what I was all about and I got to ask her a lot of questions which put my mind at ease. I came out of the interview feeling very sure about my acceptance.
* Write a great essay.

I did a lot of community service, and wrote a creative essay (I wrote it as a poem). Find someway to attract the attention of the administration.

If you can interview, do itOct 17 2003Undecided
If you can interview, do it. It could be what pushes you from the no pile to the yes. Also, make sure your essay is good. And, if you have the opportunity to visit the school, you should. Visiting Fordham made them my first choice over NYU ( I visited there, too) and I never would have seen that coming.
