| | Based on my grades and test scores alone, I would not have gotten into Goucher. I did however, have a lot of extra-curricular and I consider myself to be a very above-average writer, so my essay was very above-average. Take that to mean what you will as far as admissions goes. I was very involved in extra-curriculars during high school, wrote a good essay, and interviewed at goucher. My test scores are pretty average, but they are optional at Goucher. In your college essay, write something that really shows your individual thought and perspective. They'll accept a wide range of students based on academic standing, activities and personality. The eclectic types fit in at Goucher better than the people who fit in. I didn't have the highest SAT scores, but I did have AP courses on my transcript, so they knew that I would be a good student. Goucher is a good school for developing your academic skills to the next level. Good SATs, essay is important, interview is important, extracurriculars are important. They look for well-rounded, interesting individuals who legitimately are passionate about the college.
