I had a 3.85 GPA and worked hard in high school but you can get in easily with a 3.00 or lower.I honestly wanted to attend a big school such as Cal Berkeley, Cal Poly, or Oregon State. I never thought of HSU until I saw a flier for it and decided to visit for the fun of it. I fell in love as soon as a I got on campus and decided to not even apply to the other schools. I definitely recommend visiting before attending.
It isn't hard to get in here; however, there's a self-selecting aspect that come with this school. People come here expecting one thig but in the end can't handle the relative isolation, the (annoying, yes) drug culture or the gloomy weather and leave or transfer.
this is a small school and that means you can really get to know your professors. if you like a prof then talk to them about their research and get involved. you're free labor, so if you seem intelligent they aren't likely to turn you away. there is nothing better for grad school apps then lots of research experience.
