Just because you did well academically in high-school doesn'tMay 01 2009Journalism
Just because you did well academically in high-school doesn't automatically guarantee you a spot in Howard. Your extra-curricular activities and test scores are worth just as much if not more than your GPA and class rank. So, volunteer a bunch and make sure your test scores are nice and solid.

My high school transcript wass sprinkled with D's andJun 02 2007Business - Management and Administration
My high school transcript wass sprinkled with D's and my GPA was a 3.1. However, I took all X and AP classes 10th 11th and 12th Grade, and I scored a 28 on my ACT. Make sure the essay is really creative. Let me emphasize that again, make sure the essay is REALLY CREATIVE! I also got a reccomendation from a local politician that I interned for over the summer, I think that helped. I'm still a little shocked that I got into the business school without being waitlisted, especially when alot of my friends had better grades than me and got waitlisted or rejected from the Arts and Sciences program... But anyway... we'll have to see how it goes at the Mecca.
