Tips mention:
Interview (3),
ACT/SAT (21),
Grades (5),
Sports (1),
Essay (15) | If you DO want to go to Hofstra, have a decently high GPA (go to www.collegeboard.com for accurate scores and compare yourself), take the campus tour, and write a good essay. For some reason people have the idea that Hofstra's hard to get into, but I see a lot of idiots here so I don't think it's too hard. One thing though; you should still really focus on your grades and submit accurate financial aid information, because Hofstra is EXPENSIVE as hell, about $45,000 a year depending on scholarships and aid. I was lucky to come from a well-off family and got a few scholarships, but a lot of people I know are drowning in debt after only one year, so work hard to get those extra scholarships. Apply for as many as you can find, and good luck. Also, there are a few majors here that are better than others. Hofstra has a great Business school, and a very good Law School. Their Drama and Dance program (I was a drama major last year) is top notch, and the closeness to NYC gives the students going for BFA's the opportunity to show their senior showcase in an off-broadway theatre in front of agents and other important figures. I also know a lot of people who are doing very well in the Political Science major. If you do want to go here, try and find someone to talk to in your intended major and get a feel of it from them, because I know there are some majors on campus that are NOT worth coming here for. | Jan 14 2009 | Have extracurricular experience and good grades. I had good grades in high school. There's no real trick to getting in here. community service and just get good grades and take challenging courses to show you will work when you get there. Its an expensive school so you need to get that scholarship if your not rich like me. |
