ISU says:
"Illinois State seeks a highly motivated and academically well-prepared, and diverse student body.  Of those freshmen admitted for the 2004-2005 academic year, 90 percent ranked in the top half of their graduating class; 53 percent ranked in the top quarter; and 20 percent ranked in the top 10 percent of their class.  The average ACT score was nearly 25, and there were significant increases over previous years in the number of admitted students having scores between 24 and 35.  "

Audition like everybody else does. Do not treat it like a special school that you're trying to get in to. Remember: Auditioning is experimenting while performing, don't try to WIN. Just show them who you are.

I wrote an application letter about why I thought that ISU was going to be the perfect fit for me.

I contacted the administration within the field of my study with a few questions on their program to get a better understanding on what the coursework would be like.

I'd recommend asking fewer generalized questions and dig really deep when thinking of what it is you really want in a school. After all, you're paying for it.
