Philosophy

I was a pretty solid applicant, and got in to every school I applied to. I had a 3.6 high school GPA with a 30 on the ACT, a great community service record, worked abroad at an orphanage and graduated high school early. I chose Ithaca because I thought upstate New York was beautiful, and because the school gave me a pretty good scholarship. Based on the 76% admissions rate, I wouldn't think an applicant would have to stress out if they had anything above a 3.0 in high school.

not hard to get in to, you probably need a 26 or higher on the ACT, and mostly A's and B's on your transcript. they also like to see that you took honors or upper level classes and that you challenged yourself with AP classes even if you could have gotten higher grades taking regular level classes.

I failed to get admitted out of High School (I am bright was a bad student in HS). I went to my state school (CU-Boulder) for a year and earned a high GPA. Transferring was easy as far as filing the paper work and getting in. Ithaca has a lousy system for handling transfer students, so be prepared for some administrative headaches if you transfer in.

Journalism

Not too hard, get good grades, get good test scores, and put in the common app, boom your in. I hear the Journalism department is one of the toughest to get into, so I can only imagine how easy the other ones are.
