To get in, i got an ACT score of 25, GPA of 3.4, had 75 hours of community service and I'm a black male. For other students who plan to come here, work your butt off in high school, not only to get in but also so that you do not fail out after your first year. Good Luck.
Biology
You have to have a balance. Your achievments can't purely be in accidemics or extracurr, It has to be all
Business - Management and Administration
Work hard, and don't screw around.
Chemistry
Be sure to pad your application. I mentioned that I studied 5 languages and they put that in the acceptance letter (which you can have them send you a copy that is unfolded, in case you want to frame it.)
Chemistry
I passed my classes in high school- they have this snooty air of superiority, but one of my suitemates got a 22 on his ACT and got in just fine. What a joke of a school.

I just had my favorite teachers who knew me the best write my letters of recommendation. I did not do anything extra special. I had great grades and did well on the ACT/SAT. That's all I can say about getting into K College.
Language - French/Spanish/etc.
Don't feel like you have to be good at everything and be in every student group and get all A's. If you have one thing you are really interested in and you have clearly been devoted to that, then admissions will notice.
Music - Performance
In my admissions essay I spoke as articulately as I could on the subject that was provided but still added as much of my personality as I could. The K College application has a lot of components that may seem like a burden, but which ultimately will "sell" your application to the admissions counselors (ie they will have a good idea of the kind of person you are because you give them a lot to work with). If you are applying to Kalamazoo College, do your best to be yourself. I don't think that they admissions counselors are looking for straight-A-machines, but rather a well-rounded student who will thrive in K's competitive and demanding atmosphere.
Psychology
I was an exchange student in high school and participated in a variety of programs throughout my four years. I did not stick with one avenue, rather I did many different kinds of activities. I studied hard and took challenging classes (good preparation for the intensity of Kalamazoo College courses).
Political Science
Be involved in activities, include some simply for application appeal (i.e. National Honor Society, charity etc.) but mainly just do what you enjoy because thats what counts, if you spend all of high school preparing for college, thats a waste of four years. Write an essay that you think they would like to read, but make it interesting, college really is about writing to the professor's liking, and it is the same for admissions. Most of all, let what's special about you shine through...anything works, from summer camps to trips to the zoo, write it up and you have an interesting life experience that will stand out.
