I didn't even apply. I called the admissions office. They emailed my HS counselor to get my transcript and ACT. I was later notified I had over 40,000 in scholarships.

Do well on the ACT or SAT, whatever one you take. If you can find an alumni to sign a paper saying you two are friends then there's actually a scholarship available for you, so look into that.
