Essay is extremely important, they don't really care about much else. You must emphasis a certain unique aspect of you and incorporate that into your essays. Mount Holyoke looks for distinguished individuals in odd fields, not solely on academics and they don't even look at the SAT. Good luck.  History/Histories (art history/etc.)

write a really really good essay, they want to see determination and uniqueness more than anything else. Political Science

i am as diverse as they come. they love diversity here at mount holyoke. if you have had a fabulous experience somewhere, did an impressive project, grew up in an army base somewhere in the world, your father is a millionaire, or you enjoy riding camels or something, they will take you. just be sure to slip it into your essay some how. My SATs were 1300, ACT 28. I wrote a good essay, had a 3.5 in HS (upward trend from D's freshman year.. so 3 years of straight A's), many excellent extracurriculars and internships. Played sports and sent them everything I could think of. Visited twice, had an interview, got an almost free ride off merit scholarships and grants MHC gave me. |
