Try to show you're a fitApr 15 2006Aerospace Engineering
Try to show you're a fit. Personality-wise, ability-wise, creativity-wise. That's all. Don't get too caught up in test scores.
SAT: 1530 Female
Got good HS grades and SATApr 08 2006Economics
Got good HS grades and SAT. But I had too easy a time in HS and had poor study habits. I almost flunked MIT because of poor grades, but got lots of help from one or two faculty. Finallly graduated, which was the point. You must set up a regular study schedule, become disciplined, and ignore other unessential stuff (partying, etc.)until you know how to handle the academic stuff. The rewards come later when you've gotten your degree. After 50 years I find it still impresses people.

I think to get in to MIT, you haveMar 15 2006Math
I think to get in to MIT, you have to prove to the admissions department that you WANT to come here & that you're willing to work hard. To show that you want to come here, stress how interested you are in sciences and engineering. To show that you're willing to work hard, excel in some area that requires tons of extra work, beyond what normal high school students do. This could be community service, music, sports, science olympiad, boy scouts or plenty of other things. But, the important part is to be able to show that you can work very ver hard at times.
