Since I was in-state my process of getting in was basically "can you spell your first and last name, know your SSN, and have above a 2.5 GPA?" Fortunately there is a very intelligent student body there even given those lax entrance requirements, and there is a substantial out-of-state and international student population.
The admissions process is very straightforward and the administration is extremely helpful. It is very similar to a number of schools in that it's not very difficult to get in, it's just difficult to stay on track. Your standardised test scores can be used to place you in classes, so pay attention to those requirements.
It's extremely easy to get in. I transferred from another school to MSU and all I had to do was submit an application and set up an appointment with my department and admissions. Doing these appointments took 2 hours and made it so I didn't have to go to transfer orientation.
